So, as MB & I were waiting at the bus stop on the corner of the park that's a 2 minute walk from our building earlier today (on the way to meet [personal profile] fings for lunch), I saw a dude a few park benches down fall on the ground and sort of just start to flail around. I became alarmed and started fumbling for my cell phone when I noticed that Willie the Hot Dog guy and some of his crew were sitting on their plastic chairs calmly looking down the guy at Flailing Guy. "Shouldn't we call 911, isn't that guy having a seizure?!?!" I asked. "No", said Willie the Hot Dog Guy, "He's not having a seizure, he's just crazy". His 2 buddies quietly nodded in agreement. Ok, then!

After a few minutes, I was glad to see that someone had called 911 and an officer approached him and went away a few minutes later apparently satisfied that he wasn't in danger or anything. By that point, Flailing Guy was just muttering and gesticulating wildly. But he wasn't bothering anyone.

Poor guy, I'm sure he's in need of some serious long term aid.

Still, I am laughing about how this dude was flipping out on the ground, and how calmly the fellows at the hot dog stand were watching. It was like a scene from a movie, or something.

Go check out Palin as President. The site has been updated. Before it gave me good lulz. Now it has me crying all over again.

God Bless our President-Elect Barack Obama. I do not expect him to be a perfect president, but I believe strongly that he is the right man at the right time. I believe he will accomplish great things for this nation of ours. I have hope for this country in a way that I have not had in many years. I cannot put into words the the feeling that I have, that my baby will be born into a time where our country will hopefully be planting the seeds for a better tomorrow. I've been so vitriolic against McCain/Palin because the thought of my child coming into this world with those divisive warmongering assholes in charge was making me sick to my stomach. I was losing sleep over that shit. I'm sure there are many who would think me an optimistic fool. I don't give a flying fuck. I am filled with hope, and it is a beautiful thing.

I didn't get to sleep until about 6am. I was polishing the cedar chest at 5am. I was alternating cleaning and watching "The Countdown" w/Keith Olbermann and "The Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBCtv. I slept on the recliner until 11:15am, the longest I've ever been able to stay sleeping on that thing, LOL. I crawled into bed until noon, and then [personal profile] fings and I showered, dressed, grabbed a folding chair (just in case, we had no idea if there would be a very long line, and I didn't fancy standing for an hour or more. stupid flat feet! we didn't need it).

Finally voting was just great. I must say however, I miss the old school voting machines where the switches you moved for your vote kind of clicked, and then you pulled the lever with a very satisfying "ka-chunk!". Afterwards, we went to Cafe Rumba for some damn fine Cuban food.

We got home and I napped a bit on the recliner. I woke up rather cranky. I was feeling utteryly wiped out. Now I'm just really tired. Both mentally, and physically. I guess the stress of it all has taken a bit of a toll. Thank goodness this day is finally here, and we will know one way or the other what the frigging outcome is, already! My stomach is in knots, and I've already cried a little. I am hopeful, very hopeful.

We are expecting [personal profile] thudthwacker and [personal profile] eafm in a short while, as well as my oldest nephews. We'll eat, play some games, order some food. And maybe have the MSNBC.com live coverage on :D.

And yes, our apartment is cleaner and neater than it has been in weeks and weeks. HUZZAH!!! Now we need to work on the small room (so full of stuff and junk) and neaten up the guest room. Oh, and lots of damn paperwork to sift through, file, shred, organize. I need to draft one of my nephews to help move a lot of stuff to Goodwill. Oh, and we especially (ok, I need to) make sure the current level of clean and neat gets maintained as much as possible.

Can someone please tell me just where the holy hell did October go?!?!

As of now, we have jack shit plans for Halloween. Hmm, I don't even care, which makes me feel exceedingly lame.

Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother have been murdered. And an Amber Alert has been issued for who they believe to be her 7 year old nephew. Oh, that poor woman, her poor family. Damn.
