So, our weekend consisted of more bumming around and less cleaning that I had hoped for. At least we got into Manhattan on Saturday night, the way we had planned. We came dangerously close to being totally lame and staying home. We went to the Strand, Kim's Video, had dinner and later some snacks (btw, avoid the Quizno's across the street from the Strand, that was the shittiest Quizno's ever! the meat in our cheese steaks was subpar & gristly, bleah. the customer service was LAME. I mean seriously, [personal profile] fings asked for potato soup and they gave him broccoli cheddar, he went back to get the correct soup, and this time a different dude gave him chicken soup. um, ok. at least it was something he liked. but man!). It was a lovely cool evening and we once again berated ourselves for being bums who don't go wandering in NYC more often.

Fings suggested that he take a week off sometime in October so we can be "tourists" and I think I like that idea. The World Trade Center is gone, but we can still go to the top of the Empire State Building or Rockefeller Plaza. We can see about getting discount Broadway tickets. I'd like to see "Wicked" while it's still possible. Oh, we can do a day wandering in Central Park. I'd like to go to the Guggenheim and the Frick Museums. Still haven't been to the MOMA since they reopened and charge $20 entry, but I've been meaning to. I like this idea more and more.

Yesterday we went to OneCrazyFamily's Annual May Day party! Thank for having us over, we had a very nice time :).

Today I slept in ridiculously late and have accomplished nothing. I really should have done a lot of cleaning. I'm going to kick myself tomorrow, I know it. Oh, well. I'll live.

I have an insane amount of work to do for my CDA class in the next 2 weeks. I have painted myself in a corner, way to go, [personal profile] yolen! Hopefully I get it all done without losing my mind completely. Or driving my husband to drink.

Just checked my email, and THANK GOODNESS my Saturday classes are CANCELED due to the weather. Apparently, if Friday classes are canceled because of inclement weather, then Saturday classes are automatically canceled. Words cannot begin to express the relief I am feeling right now. I was NOT looking forward to going to class, I was just cursing the fact that I hadn't looked at my homework assignment all week long.

I had my CDA Workshop class on Saturday and for once I didn't leave dragging my ass and grumbling curses under my breath ;). Class was dismissed a little early and that was a nice surprise. After some loafing about at home we took the bus to the Port Authority and bought tickets for "The Darjeeling Limited". Then we took a walk around Times Square for a bit and poked around Virgin Megastore (there were some plush "Nightmare Before Christmas" dolls I was DYING to buy, but I was good) and then headed over to Dallas BBQ for some dinner. Mmmmmm :); though I had rotiserrie chicken and fried shrimp (that was effing delicious). After dinner we hopped across the street for the movie. We really enjoyed it, I think I enjoyed it a bit more than [personal profile] fings, but I'm a bigger sucker than he is for Wes Anderson movies. We hadn't had a nice date night like that in a while.

Yesterday was a good day, got lots of chores done and then loafed comfortably later on in the day.

My left ankle hurts and I still feel groggy from my dumb ass being up till almost 3am. I wonder if I had too much Coke last night. Bleah. I feel kinda crappy.

I'm listening to "Common People" as covered by William Shatner w/Joe Jackson, produced by Ben Folds. It still kicks all kinds of ass, omfg, I love this song.

I really have a great desire to see Joe Jackson in concert again, it's been too long. I luuuurve Joe Jackson and he puts on a wonderful concert, the happy vibes last for days afterward.

Watched Pedro Almovodar's movie "Talk to Her" last night, very, very good. He has a knack for making movies that should be totally creepifying, but are unexpectedly moving. And I really liked the bits of music and dancing in the movie, I would love to visit Spain one day. I swear, whenever I hear music from Spain, I feel a stirring in my blood. Must be genetic memory :).

Still working on getting all my paperwork and such transferred over to my new name. Sending off some paperwork to Sallie Mae so they can change my name in their records and voter registration paperwork for [personal profile] fings and myself, will be going to the DMV tomorrow to get a new ID. Right, then I can send off my passport to get updated. After that, the only thing I can really think of is an update on medical records. I'll be very glad when I no longer have to concern myself with this. It's still jarring to see my name now, and it's jarring for [personal profile] fings, too. Heh.

Labor Day Weekend entailed: a Saturday birthday party for my little nephew J. who turned 3 on Tuesday, a lot of sitting around on our asses, some minimal cleaning up around the condo, emptying out a total of 2 boxes of stuff from the move (oy, so much left to unpack, we suck), watching as many episodes of "Firefly" as I could get away with, moving furniture, and having dinner with [personal profile] eafm & [personal profile] thudthwacker and my in-laws (at the same time!).

Wow, I'm tired! It's been a rather full and busy weekend, but in a very good way. On Friday, [personal profile] fings had the closing on his new condo in the Jersey City Heights, I went along with him for moral support and such. Things went rather smoothly (the lawyer for the sellers was late, but hey) and there was much signing of papers. About an hour and a half after setting foot into the lawyer's office, Fings had the keys to his new home firmly in hand. He seemed excited, frazzled, happy and stunned all at once. Even I had butterflies in my stomach. I suggested ice cream to celebrate :). We headed back to Hoboken and we hit the Cold Stone Creamery for obscenely huge quantities of ice cream which was damn yummy. After that, we made our way back to Fings' current apartment where we sort of just hung out for a while before heading out to the condo. At about 8:00pm or [personal profile] fings tossed some toilet paper, soap, a sponge, a telephone and a clock radio to bring to his new home. About 10-15 mnutes later, we'd walked over to the new place (yes, it's pretty close to where he currently lives, and thank goodness he will still have a very decent commute, a 20-25 minute walk from his front door to his office, whoo-hoo!!). We wandered about the apartment and marveled--this is his new home! He has to toss things, pack up and move!! AAACK!! Ha. At one point we just lay down on the floor of what's to be his new bedroom, the lights were off and he voiced his utter marvel at the situation, he was still trying to wrap his mind around it all. Pretty heady stuff, you know? He called his parents just to basically say "Hey, guess where I'm calling from?" :). A little before 10pm we decided to high-tail it back to his apartment in Hoboken as the next day was going to be a busy one.

So, yesterday was the annual May Day Party as thrown by [profile] 1cmf and [personal profile] onecrazymother, but before we could head down, we had to run back to the condo because they've been repainting the common areas and someone needed to open up the condo door so the door frame could be painted. Of course on the way, there was an interlude of dvd shopping in front of Blockbuster--7 dvds for $20! So, $40 and 20 minutes or so after spotting the dvd sale, we split up down the block from the new domicile, I bought some pizza for lunch (right, Luigi's pizza isn't that hot--el cheapo cheese, bleah) and he went straight to the building. Happily, by the time I ran across the street and went upstairs, the door and doorframe was freshly painted black, yay! So then we just had to wait for [personal profile] eafm & [personal profile] thudthwacker plus their lovely daughter because they were graciously and wonderfully giving us a ride down to the May Day party. In the meantime we ran around all of the rooms again, and then spent some time reading and chilling out. Eafm & Thudthwacker fortunately found their way with little difficulty, [personal profile] fings enjoyed giving the nickel tour to his new place :). They ooohed and ahhed in all of the right places :P.

So, after a while on the road we made it to the May Day party fashionably late ;). There was a nice crowd of people, many who we know, among them were LJers ([personal profile] buzz; [profile] moonchild_lnd; the "Katschatten" family consisting of: [profile] musickat, [profile] mister_kat, [profile] todesshcatten & the little Mercurial Maiden; [personal profile] catwithbell; [profile] gadget_girl_now with her husband A. and their little one W., I'm sure I've missed listing some LJ ppl who were there, sorry!), and many who were new people to meet. Lots of kids running round, it was great! Good snacks, good food (yay for [profile] 1cmf's mad grilling skillz), and wonderful company :). [profile] mister_kat made some wonderful sangria (yes, sure did get a mite tipsy from that!) and grilled a delicious marinated leg of lamb, yowza. There was a Maypole in the late afternoon, and a lovely, lovely bonfire at night. Toasty and mesmerizing. Many, many thanks to "Onecrazyfamily" for again hosting such a great get together! And thanks again to the "Thwackers" for the ride (haha, I am being liberal in my nicknaming of families, please forgive me!), to and from the party.

Today's excitement consisted of [personal profile] fings parents and brother coming up to see the new digs. They arrived in Hoboken around noon, and we went to lunch at Houlihan's in Weehawken. Had a nice time chatting and catching up. Then we zipped over to Jersey City. Thankfully, there was parking available right across the street. His folks and brother really liked the place, his mom took lots and lots of pictures. They were all happy and proud, it was really nice to see.

Oh, yeah, and one last thing. )

[personal profile] fings and I had a very nice day yesterday walking about lower Manhattan. Made some small purchases that pleased us: a new Harry Potter bookbag (my old one was starting to fall apart and this one is powder blue with sparkly silver writing, I like it a lot and it was only $7, whoohoo), new mini-umbrella and 2 LED flashlight pens at the Un-Imperialist Non-Oppressive Bookstore (34 Carmine St., very cute litte place with nice & cheaply priced products, the establishment is 2 storefronts side by side, 1 is a children's bookstore, the other for adults). Also, I received another early birthday present in the form of *fabulous* vintage sunglasses from this awesome little vintage toy store (damn, I can't remember it's name). I can't put into words how much I love these frames, it's like the culmination of my search: every pair of sunglasses I have bought since freshman year of college have led to these :P. Thanks again to my sweetie! I guess I'll have to post a picture. [personal profile] fings got to browse books and dvds to his hearts content and purchased a couple at TLA right before we left NY. We had delicious burgers & frites for lunch in Hoboken before we ventured to NYC and decent Mexican at some place whose name eludes me before we headed back to Hoboken. It was a beautiful day and all of the rain was expected turned out to be a bit of pitiful drizzling, thank goodness. Felt really good to walk around, though I have to say I'm not too thrilled at how tired my fat ass was when we got back to the apartment. And I was annoyed at how much my stupid flat feet and bad ankle were bothering me, but a foot massage helped to alleviate that quite a bit :).

Today's big thing was mostly grocery shopping (much needed!). We had intended to clean up the apartment as much as possible for the birthday party fings is tossing for me next Saturday and yeah right, haha, there's still everything to do. Fortunately there is still time to get things ready.

This past weekend [personal profile] fings and I: ate delicious Mexican food & drank yummy strawberry margaritas, went to the library, went to the mall and saw "The Matador" (very fun movie with Pierce Brosnan), Fings picked up several movies on sale as Suncoast is going out of business (I picked up a $3 Nightmare Before Christmas nightlight), I picked up a new black shirt and a purple nightie (my first ever!) at Lane Bryant, did some grocery shopping, and went to a SuperBowl party on Sunday where [profile] the_malum & [profile] mitch37 were in attendance along with other nice and friendly people. It was a good weekend!!

And now I am off to bed, I can hardly keep my darned eyes open.

I am so sick and tired of my effing period. After almost 21 years of this nonsense, I guess that is no surprise. Blech.
On that charming note, g'night! :P
