Dec. 27th, 2004 09:47 amGot a nice dusting of snow around here. It's cold, but not frigid like it was last Monday. Still, cold enough to make my bad ankle throb on the left side in such a manner that the pain pulsates halfway up my calf. But that's ok, I'm fine with the pain. It's tolerable and is actually a rather nice reminder that I'm alive. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the 21,000+ death toll from the tsunamis this weekend in Southeast Asia (although people are dead in Somalia as well, far-reaching indeed). Twenty-one thousand people. Swept away into the ocean like so much debris. The final numbers are bound to be more. It must seem like Armageddon to the sorrowful survivors. I can't imagine what they must be going through. I'm feeling so sad for them, but also so very, very lucky and grateful to be alive. I'm blessed in so many ways. So many of us are. I promise to do my best to remember that next time I feel tempted to throw a pity-party for one.
