Aug. 21st, 2009 04:20 amIt's so unbearably hot and humid. I fucking despise the dog days of summer. Is October almost here?
I recently finished watching all of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel". I feel oddly accomplished in a fangirly sort of way. It took several weeks to this, watching eps as I nursed Milo at all hours of the day. We own these, so in a few weeks I plan on going through the 2 series again, but this time to watch the shows with the commentaries.
Almost done watching "Sopranos" thanks to Netflix. The show went downhill some after season 3, but overall this has been some damn quality tv. I'm glad I've been able to see it all in a continuous fix and didn't have to wait freaking years between seasons.
Having a baby has really greatly reduced my patience for my family's usual bullshit and shenanigans. Not only have my priorities shifted, I am too goddamned exhausted and sleep deprived to spare the energy.

Yesterday my youngest nephew graduated from kindergarten. Today my youngest niece is graduating from high school. I'm sorry these are events I could not attend. My nephew because of how many people could be invited, my niece because she lives too far and I do not drive. Cannot strap a baby on myself down to Howell.

Nov. 5th, 2008 03:29 amGo check out Palin as President. The site has been updated. Before it gave me good lulz. Now it has me crying all over again.
God Bless our President-Elect Barack Obama. I do not expect him to be a perfect president, but I believe strongly that he is the right man at the right time. I believe he will accomplish great things for this nation of ours. I have hope for this country in a way that I have not had in many years. I cannot put into words the the feeling that I have, that my baby will be born into a time where our country will hopefully be planting the seeds for a better tomorrow. I've been so vitriolic against McCain/Palin because the thought of my child coming into this world with those divisive warmongering assholes in charge was making me sick to my stomach. I was losing sleep over that shit. I'm sure there are many who would think me an optimistic fool. I don't give a flying fuck. I am filled with hope, and it is a beautiful thing.

Nov. 4th, 2008 05:29 pmI didn't get to sleep until about 6am. I was polishing the cedar chest at 5am. I was alternating cleaning and watching "The Countdown" w/Keith Olbermann and "The Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBCtv. I slept on the recliner until 11:15am, the longest I've ever been able to stay sleeping on that thing, LOL. I crawled into bed until noon, and then
fings and I showered, dressed, grabbed a folding chair (just in case, we had no idea if there would be a very long line, and I didn't fancy standing for an hour or more. stupid flat feet! we didn't need it).
Finally voting was just great. I must say however, I miss the old school voting machines where the switches you moved for your vote kind of clicked, and then you pulled the lever with a very satisfying "ka-chunk!". Afterwards, we went to Cafe Rumba for some damn fine Cuban food.
We got home and I napped a bit on the recliner. I woke up rather cranky. I was feeling utteryly wiped out. Now I'm just really tired. Both mentally, and physically. I guess the stress of it all has taken a bit of a toll. Thank goodness this day is finally here, and we will know one way or the other what the frigging outcome is, already! My stomach is in knots, and I've already cried a little. I am hopeful, very hopeful.
We are expecting
thudthwacker and
eafm in a short while, as well as my oldest nephews. We'll eat, play some games, order some food. And maybe have the MSNBC.com live coverage on :D.
And yes, our apartment is cleaner and neater than it has been in weeks and weeks. HUZZAH!!! Now we need to work on the small room (so full of stuff and junk) and neaten up the guest room. Oh, and lots of damn paperwork to sift through, file, shred, organize. I need to draft one of my nephews to help move a lot of stuff to Goodwill. Oh, and we especially (ok, I need to) make sure the current level of clean and neat gets maintained as much as possible.

Today was a good day.
Jun. 20th, 2008 10:54 pmWent to my little nephew J's pre-K "graduation" today. OMG, a bunch of 4 year olds singing and dancing brings on the LULZ. My parents, my SIL and her mother were there as well. My brother couldn't take time off from work, he feels bad. But we took a shitload of pictures and I took a few little videos, so that's something. Have to see about getting it all uploaded on a cd for them. Little J. was so proud of himself, and he totally dug getting to show off for his family. I love him bunches.
Had lunch with
fings in Hoboken. Ate forbidden fruit from Johnny Rockets which made me have to high tail it to the bathroom a short while later (sorry, TMI). But that shit was *good* so there.
Had a really great swim on campus. My goal is to go swimming 5 days a week, but I'll be happy to get up to 3 days a week consistently.
Started a project in the basement, I'm going to paint and clean out the utility room. But first, three of the walls need priming. Primed the 1st coat on the 1st wall. Felt good to at least get that started.
Ate delicious turkey lasagna leftovers. It's always nice to have a good dinner without having to cook that night!

Christmas!
Dec. 24th, 2007 05:04 pmWell, our apartment is clean, roast pork, arroz con gandules, and macaroni & cheese are ready to be eaten; chicken is roasting in the oven. My family should be trickling in soon, with their crazy Puerto Rican ways :P. Hopefully the drama will be low. Oh, and a Christmas miracle! My borderline agoraphobic mother will be coming. Wow. Tomorrow,
fings and I have to haul ass to the train station in Hoboken to take the train to Raritan so we can spend tomorrow with his side of the family. Christmas craziness :). But in a good way! A Very Merry Christmas Eve & Christmas Day/Yule to all who celebrate!!
I received a new camera for Christmas! I got it about a week and a half ago, and I finally had fings set it up for me; a Canon A720IS. YAY, 8 megapixels!!!
I will report more Christmas loot tomorrow :).

Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2007 07:50 pmThis year for Halloween, we are doing jack shit! Eh, that's ok.
I got to the day care center later on in the day, so I missed most of the babies that were in their costumes. There was a 14 month old dressed as a tiger, and a 2 1/2 year old dressed as Robin Hood. On the walk home from work I saw a lot of people in their costumes. Among the little ones were: a Peter Pan, a witch, a fairy, a hobo. Among the adults a Mike Myers from "Halloween" and a couple dressed as Wayne and Garth from "Wayne's World" (they were across the street from me when I saw them. at first I just noticed a young woman wearing a baseball cap, then I noticed the guy next to her was wearing this terrible blond wig and black glasses, ha. I looked back at her, and sure enough her hat said "Wayne's World. I thought that was pretty neat).
My older brother called me earlier just as I was heading out the door for the center, he wanted to pick me up so I could go Trick or Treating with him and my nephew little J. Dang! It sucked having to say that I couldn't. I haven't seen little J. since his birthday party almost 2 months ago :(. Things have just been kinda crazy on their end of things, and I have class on Saturdays which hasn't helped. Anyway, little J. had been talking for weeks about being Darth Vader and I'm very glad they were able to rustle that up for him. My dad was able to go with them to the mall so little J. could beg for candy, then my brother and the kid headed off for the main drag in Bayonne. I called earlier to see how it was going, my brother said they were about to head into a party that one of the businesses had organized. He told me that he'd been concerned just a few minutes before that a guy in a particularly scary mask would scare little J. and he started to tell him not to be afraid, it was only a mask only to be told "That's ok dad, I can get him with my light saber if he bothers me!". Heh.
Oh,
fings just looked this over and said "Hey! We're not doing jack shit! We ordered chinese food!". Ok, so, we are going to stuff ourselves with chinese food and then watch a movie while cuddled up on the sofa ^_^.
