Blatherings of an Extroverted Bookworm

I didn't get to sleep until about 6am. I was polishing the cedar chest at 5am. I was alternating cleaning and watching "The Countdown" w/Keith Olbermann and "The Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBCtv. I slept on the recliner until 11:15am, the longest I've ever been able to stay sleeping on that thing, LOL. I crawled into bed until noon, and then fings and I showered, dressed, grabbed a folding chair (just in case, we had no idea if there would be a very long line, and I didn't fancy standing for an hour or more. stupid flat feet! we didn't need it).

Finally voting was just great. I must say however, I miss the old school voting machines where the switches you moved for your vote kind of clicked, and then you pulled the lever with a very satisfying "ka-chunk!". Afterwards, we went to Cafe Rumba for some damn fine Cuban food.

We got home and I napped a bit on the recliner. I woke up rather cranky. I was feeling utteryly wiped out. Now I'm just really tired. Both mentally, and physically. I guess the stress of it all has taken a bit of a toll. Thank goodness this day is finally here, and we will know one way or the other what the frigging outcome is, already! My stomach is in knots, and I've already cried a little. I am hopeful, very hopeful.

We are expecting thudthwacker and eafm in a short while, as well as my oldest nephews. We'll eat, play some games, order some food. And maybe have the MSNBC.com live coverage on :D.

And yes, our apartment is cleaner and neater than it has been in weeks and weeks. HUZZAH!!! Now we need to work on the small room (so full of stuff and junk) and neaten up the guest room. Oh, and lots of damn paperwork to sift through, file, shred, organize. I need to draft one of my nephews to help move a lot of stuff to Goodwill. Oh, and we especially (ok, I need to) make sure the current level of clean and neat gets maintained as much as possible.

Yesterday we went to OneCrazyFamily's Annual May Day party! Thank for having us over, we had a very nice time :).

Today I slept in ridiculously late and have accomplished nothing. I really should have done a lot of cleaning. I'm going to kick myself tomorrow, I know it. Oh, well. I'll live.

I have an insane amount of work to do for my CDA class in the next 2 weeks. I have painted myself in a corner, way to go, yolen! Hopefully I get it all done without losing my mind completely. Or driving my husband to drink.

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. (Some I know too well. You know who you are.) I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen in rapture to the love-music of she-turnips." I might feel compelled to mock your musical taste, but I'll certainly remember you.

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people whom I know really well. Maybe especially you. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

Just got back from seeing a private advance screening of the Sweeney Todd movie. My friend Chris and I got to sing like loud & obnoxious assholes along with the movie, we were the only ones in the theatre---it was heaven! We LOVED the movie. ( Vaguely, possibly but not really very spoilerish ) OK, it's way to fucking late, goodnight y'all!

fings and I arrived in Atlanta around 2:30 EST and we've been in our hotel room since 4pm. As luck woujld have it, we were on the same flight as jungle_goddess and nsingman :). We also happen to be staying at the same hotel as they are, yay! Fings and I are unpacked and have been loafing and napping for a while. It's time to take quick showers, meet up with our aforementioned pals and I guess look into picking up our con badges and rustling up some dinner. I'm very glad to be here, this should be a great weekend.

I have not updated in a long time. I suck.

Tonight, we had a delicious dinner at the Dosa Hut in Little India. We split a cheese masala dosa and samosa chat. We've been hearing for a long time how yummy it is there, and lo, it was not false rumour-mongering ;). While we were having dinner fings teased me about the fact that I happened to be reading Maharanis: The Extraordinary Tale of Four Indian Queens and Their Journey from Purdah to Parliament. After dinner I left Fings browsing at one of the video stores while I hopped over to the sweet shop for some burfi. Mmmmmm, burfi :). Fings picked up 2 Shahrukh Khan movies and then I picked up a couple of bars of sandalwood soap.

We got home a little before 9pm. I've been wasting time online, and my sweetie has been wasting time playing Tomb Raider. Tomorrow we go to gadget_girl_now and her husband's annual summer barbecue/pool party, whoohoo!! We will probably be crashing there tomorrow night. Excellent, this give me extra time to smother their little baby girl in hugs.
