It's gotten to the point where I dread ordering anything from Amazon cause I know it's gotta come UPS.  If we're not lucky enough to get the package successfully delivered the 1st attempt, shenanigans always ensue.  The fucking guy routinely lies about making delivery attempts.  SO MANY times I've been home waiting for a package, and even though no one rang the doorbell or left a notice on the front door of the building the UPS tracking info would show a delivery was "attempted" at X time. &^%* !!!  This time around, I ordered a stepper from Amazon, and the estimated delivery date was this past Friday.  I had to go to UMDNJ for a glucose tolerance test and knew most likely that I'd miss the delivery ASSUMING anyone showed up, so I was really hoping this dude wouldn't bother and BS that he made the attempt.  But alas, there was a notice on the front door of the building, so I knew that chances were most likely I'd wait for the package today and get nothing but a bogus "2nd delivery attempted" on the UPS website.  And I was right.  So I called the domestic UPS line and they had the local warehouse in Secaucus call me back (I've spoken with this manager several times already since we moved into this building and we've had to deal with this jerk of a delivery guy) and she seemed to think I should be ok with the fact that a 3rd delivery.  I had to tell her 3 times that as far as I'm concerned, the 2nd delivery was not attempted, that I most likely can't be home tomorrow to wait for my package, and that if the delivery guy had just done his job today, I wouldn't be bothering her with my phone call.  That we don't have a vehicle and it won't be easy to procure a ride to pick up the package tomorrow night.  I bitched enough so that after putting me on hold, she told me he would do his best to come over tonight between 5pm and 6:30pm.  She let me know that she apologizes, that she's had other complaints about this guy before--so I asked her why no one has done anything about this?  She lamely told me that this is his route, as if, you know, they are just stuck with him.  I informed her that I am pretty sure there are lots of new people applying to UPS all the time.  She wasn't thrilled by my comment.  All I know is, I'd better get this fucking stepper tonight, or all hell is going to break loose tomorrow.

Do you have an alternate delivery address you can use? Work or friend? I had the same problemo with UPS and FEDEX when I lived in a security building. Gah. Maddening. While I was working it was simple to have things delivered to my office, but when I was at home? DUDE! I'm a SAHM and you cannot LIE and say you ATTEMPTED because I WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME! *pant pant* See, I get mad just thinking about it.

Yes. Alternate address if you can. That saved my sanity.

I MIGHT be able to ask my parents if we could have stuff delivered there since my mother is home every day, all day (unless she has a Dr. appointment), except my mother is an unpredictable pain in my ass and might make objections in the first place, or later on after signing for a few packages that this is a pain in her ass. Hmmm.

It is extremely maddening shit, though.

Ugh, I hate that shit. Our old USPS person absolutely sucked and everyone knew but they don't do shit about her. I really hope your stuff shows up tonight.

Thanks. You have to wonder, do these people get tenure after a certain time like college profs? After 10 years of lugging boxes, do you then have carte blanche to deliver or not deliver shit as you see fit? It's absolute horseshit.

the *only* saving grace about ups here is that they just leave the package. they don't even ring the (&%$ing bell. (yeah, thanks for leaving my laptop on my front step.) luckily i am usually home and hear the truck so i can go get whatever it is, but COME *on*... can't even bother to ring the bell when you leave crap on my doormat? car in driveway doofus ... usually means i'm home.

ups has gone to hell.

the last time i got a ring was when he delivered 25 pounds of wool, and wanted to know what was in the boxes... them being so large and all.

Ugh, what assholes!

I have to say, this is what I miss living at my previous home. It was a house with a porch (which you have to climb 2 levels of stairs from the street, so the porch is safely above street level and behind a gate) so often they would just leave it there. But mostly, *gasp* the delivery guy would deliver when he should have. This guy we have is a total asswipe.

UPS is unionized: they can't just fire people when they perform badly. They have to jump through a boatload of hoops to do so, but you can bet whenever they send a manager out to check up on him, he's gonna do every little thing by the book, and as soon as they're done, hell be back to his slacker ways.

Get things delviered elsewhere: may at Stevens?

Oh, Fabulous. Well, I'll just be certain to create a fuss every time this sort of BS happens.

I feel your pain and really hope you get the stepper tonight but the later it gets & I don't see a follow-up post, I fear you've been had.

Seeing the comments above... I agree that having a designated "delivery site" might help - but if your mom might give you grief, is there someone else who could help?

PS - BTW, that's some AWESOME iconage you've got goin' there.
