My apologies to LJ land: I've been sucking ass at reading and commenting on journals for a while and I'm sorry :(. Also, there's a bunch of stuff I wanted to post about last month, and I didn't. I'm kicking myself now. Bleah. Must be a better LJer, I'm keeping this damn blog for reasons!

Going to hit the sofa to watch some season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, eat ice cream, and have my loving husband rub my poor aching feet :).

It's past 3:30am and I'd really like to know why the hell I'm still awake. I guess I have to much crap on my mind. I hate when this happens. The worst part is I'll probably be caught in this cycle for the next few days. Shit.

My second toe on my left foot has been hurting since last night. I'm pretty sure I sprained it. Ouch.

I have not updated in a long time. I suck.

Tonight, we had a delicious dinner at the Dosa Hut in Little India. We split a cheese masala dosa and samosa chat. We've been hearing for a long time how yummy it is there, and lo, it was not false rumour-mongering ;). While we were having dinner [personal profile] fings teased me about the fact that I happened to be reading Maharanis: The Extraordinary Tale of Four Indian Queens and Their Journey from Purdah to Parliament. After dinner I left Fings browsing at one of the video stores while I hopped over to the sweet shop for some burfi. Mmmmmm, burfi :). Fings picked up 2 Shahrukh Khan movies and then I picked up a couple of bars of sandalwood soap.

We got home a little before 9pm. I've been wasting time online, and my sweetie has been wasting time playing Tomb Raider. Tomorrow we go to [profile] gadget_girl_now and her husband's annual summer barbecue/pool party, whoohoo!! We will probably be crashing there tomorrow night. Excellent, this give me extra time to smother their little baby girl in hugs.

So I was terribly unproductive today (haven't gone to bed yet, therefore, it is still Friday :P). I mean, I cleaned up a bit, baked a cake, made dinner for [personal profile] fings and myself, and read a whole lot of my book (am almost done with "The Golem's Eye", book 2 of The Bartimaeus Trilogy; wonderful stuff & highly recommended); that's about it by way of real accomplishments. Oh, yeah, and I added a shitload of new icons to my LJ. Pretty piddling and almost embarassing. Time to start the job hunt in earnest, oh yeah, you betcha.

This weekend's goals are: put up all smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors, clear out as much stuff from the guest room as possible (a bunch of this stuff will most likely be living in our storage closet in the basement), clear off the paperwork on my desk, finish info input in accounting program, and unpack a couple of more boxes.

My left ankle hurts and I still feel groggy from my dumb ass being up till almost 3am. I wonder if I had too much Coke last night. Bleah. I feel kinda crappy.

I'm listening to "Common People" as covered by William Shatner w/Joe Jackson, produced by Ben Folds. It still kicks all kinds of ass, omfg, I love this song.

I really have a great desire to see Joe Jackson in concert again, it's been too long. I luuuurve Joe Jackson and he puts on a wonderful concert, the happy vibes last for days afterward.

Watched Pedro Almovodar's movie "Talk to Her" last night, very, very good. He has a knack for making movies that should be totally creepifying, but are unexpectedly moving. And I really liked the bits of music and dancing in the movie, I would love to visit Spain one day. I swear, whenever I hear music from Spain, I feel a stirring in my blood. Must be genetic memory :).

Still working on getting all my paperwork and such transferred over to my new name. Sending off some paperwork to Sallie Mae so they can change my name in their records and voter registration paperwork for [personal profile] fings and myself, will be going to the DMV tomorrow to get a new ID. Right, then I can send off my passport to get updated. After that, the only thing I can really think of is an update on medical records. I'll be very glad when I no longer have to concern myself with this. It's still jarring to see my name now, and it's jarring for [personal profile] fings, too. Heh.

Labor Day Weekend entailed: a Saturday birthday party for my little nephew J. who turned 3 on Tuesday, a lot of sitting around on our asses, some minimal cleaning up around the condo, emptying out a total of 2 boxes of stuff from the move (oy, so much left to unpack, we suck), watching as many episodes of "Firefly" as I could get away with, moving furniture, and having dinner with [personal profile] eafm & [personal profile] thudthwacker and my in-laws (at the same time!).

So, I had a student loan begin again this month after being in deferment for several months. I sent a check last week since they sent me a bill, I figured that after paying the first month via check, the automatic payments from my checking account would begin again next month (I had a memory of this being the case sometime back on another deferment). Well, I was wrong and they not only cashed my check, they took out an automatic payment so my loan has been paid *twice* this month. I can't afford this! I've got to call them up tomorrow and see if they can stop my automatic payments and credit my account for next month, or something. I don't need this right now, I feel like a supreme dumbass! Shit.

So, I fell asleep on the sofa Saturday night around 11:00 pm after a few minutes of reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" (such an excellent book!), [personal profile] fings was playing his Star Wars video game. Around midnight my sweetie woke me up and I blearily followed him into bed, whereupon I fell back to sleep almost instantly. After sleeping crappily every night since last Sunday (and working overtime Thursday and Friday, bleah) I was very grateful that I got a good rest on Friday night and was hoping for the same for Saturday night. So, woke up at 3:30 am to answer the call of nature, and went back to bed. Then I woke up about an hour later and I wasn't able to fall back asleep until 8am. It totally sucked. I spent most of the time reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" while eating jellybeans (I <3 Jelly Belly). There were 2 attempts between 4:30 & 8 to get back to sleep, but to no avail. I was so frustrated and pissed off. I mean, it's one thing if there is something actually preventing you from sleeping like a crying baby or a huge headache, it's another to lie there and want to cry from the desire to rest and the ability to do so not matching for whatever stupid reason that isn't apparent. A couple of hours after falling asleep, I almost had a heart attack when the phone rang at around 10am. The alarm was set to go off in about 15 minutes anyway, but I really hate being woken up by the phone when in a deep sleep, it's very jarring and my mind flies to the panicky assumption that someone is calling with bad news before I even get a chance to defog my brain from sleep. Bleah. It was Fings' brother calling about what to get their mom for Christmas (apparently she is even harder than my mom to shop for, I feel for them, I really do). So, I lolled in bed for a little bit, still tired but not terribly so and I finally got up to make some breakfast.

Before I managed to get back to sleep around 8am, I was very hungry and daydreaming about yummy fried potatos. I decided to make some for breakfast along with some scrambled eggs (I was being bad, and didn't give a damn, my body was demanding comfort food, missing gallbladder be damned). All was going well, until I left the stovetop unattended so I could wash something in the sink. I screamed when I got back to the stove, cause the paper towel I had placed in a bowl to soak up the grease from the potatos once they were done had caught fire (I didn't smell anything till I got to the stove, I hate my dull sense of smell sometimes..of course, now and then it's come in handy!). [personal profile] fings ran in to see what was wrong, but fortunately the fire remained contained in the ceramic bowl (thank goodness), though he poured some water on there for good measure. Right, so, disaster averted. The potatos were almost done so I decided to start on the scrambled eggs, managed to get about 3 out of the brand new package when it slipped out of my hand and went flying right over by the paper shredder. Did I feel like such a jerk! Fings came in and cleaned up most of the mess while I scrambled the eggs that didn't get hurled on the floor (I'd already started cooking them) and he joked about it mostly cause I'm sure he could tell I was about to cry from feeling so stupid. I managed to finish cooking the eggs without any further catastrophe, though I did manage to have a piece of the paper shredder fall off while I was wiping it clean. At least it wasn't broken for good or anything. By this point, I felt like I needed to sit down and not get off the sofa for several hours lest I trip on a piece of lint and bust my crappy ankle, or something equally dumb. The most klutzy thing that happened after that was one of my bracelets getting a little tangled in Fings' hair while I was giving him a hug. At that point we both had a good chuckle as I kept my arm still and allowed him to carefully remove my bracelet/hand from out of his hair so I would not take a good hank of hair with me if I did it myself. I can get into klutzy periods every now and then (as I warned Fings when we started dating), but this was a new record for me! Absolutely ridiculous. I guess my coordination and such were particularly off because of being overtired, I felt a lot better after taking a nap on the sofa (after we saw the movie "Blackrobe", which was really good). Thank goodness I got better sleep last night (thanks to using an OTC sleeping aid and setting 2 alarms so as to alleviate my subconscious fear of sleeping over the alarm and being terribly late to work and then getting fired from this job that is kind of crappy, but I really need it for the time being....god, anxiety is the pits!!!), and the there is a new batch of eggs at my sweetie's place.

And for the record, the fried potatos were damn good (used Adobo & Mrs. Dash on that, yo) and so were the entirely too much garlic mashed potatos I made later on that day. I think carbs are good for treating super-klutzineess :P.

Edit: Oh, I also spilled a bunch of water on the floor in front of the sink while doing dishes, sometime before getting my bracelet tangled in [personal profile] fings' hair. Jeez.
