yolen: (Why is the rum gone?!)

I've been meaning to post various things over the past week, but um, I've forgotten what they were right now. The running motif of the past couple of weeks has been: helping [personal profile] fings pack his stuff and toss out his junk so he can move into his fabu new condo. I love that he has such a huge book collection (and loads of dvds and other fun crap) but packing it all away has required a crazy number of boxes. We're both looking forward to the day when he's all moved in and unpacked. Someday, there'll be the added extra fun of me getting all of my crap together and moved in there, but that's not the immediate concern since it won't be happening till after we get hitched. The process of moving seriously blows.

I remember the pain of moving.

And we will be moving again later this year.

It does blow.

But it will be done soon.

If it would be at all helpful to have an extra set of hands or someone willing to pack stuff into their vehicle to move things from point A to point B, please feel free to ask. I most certainly would be able to provide cargo space, and at least one set of hands.

It's great that you're able to go through things before he moves to shuck the junk. It's a lot harder after you move and are trying just to get unpacked and have a life once more. You're doing great!

That's the same problem we encountered. The books had to be packed only halfway up boxes that were then topped off with towels, pillows, etc. DVDs are fortunately much lighter, and weren't too much of a pain. The CD collection, however, only gets worse and worse. And that remains unpacked.

Case boxes from beer work very nicely for books. Heavy, yes, but carry-able. Larger boxes are untenable.

In one of our first moves, [livejournal.com profile] eafm and I wound up with a lot of monitor boxes (nicked from work), which we filled with ... books. 'S a good word, "untenable."

Well, moving boxes of books is good exercise at least. And they're easy to pack, right? No wrapping or breakage worries, right?

I feel for both of you. Good luck.
